The fight to reclaim Mosul from ISIS was believed to be a short one, 8 months later, it still wages on. Under siege, the Islamic State militants have had time to prepare the defenses of their last strong foothold in Iraq. And although there is no doubt as to the outcome of the battle, the price to pay to reclaim the city is a high one, and it's the civilians that have to bear most of it.
