The Pope coming to meet french catholics / Vincent Capman / 22 images
The Church was there in all its colors. Whether young or not so young, scouts, bohos, greenies or tweenies -- all were Catholic. Many of them arrived at the mass held in the Invalides in coaches chartered by their parishes and bearing rallying signs. They showed the diversity of the 65% of French people who call themselves Catholics. Only 5% of them attend mass at least one Sunday a month. The Pope’s visit to France gave them a chance to take communion on the Invalide’s esplanade.
